Bring back the timeline settings

In ASPro 6 the timeline settings seems to have been removed. In 5.6 you could press the button labeled settings in the timeline and check a box for any channel (or UNcheck a box to make it invisible). This would add that channel to the timeline even if there were no keys set for it. You could then set a keyframe at any point.
I discovered that it was gone in 6 when I wanted to set a point motion keyframe to move some points on a mask. I wanted to set a key at frame 180 for the start of the motion, and then one later after moving the points. But there was no way to set the first keyframe because there was no channel in the timeline. I can work around this by moving the points, which sets the channel into the timeline, but the movement then starts at frame 0. I then have to go to frame 0 and copy the keyframe there, then go to frame 180 (or whatever it is) and paste it. Then it works. But this is cumbersome and annoying. I'd like the layer settings to be put back in the timeline, because I used that feature all the time in 5.6 and I think it's good to have it there. I have not found a way to do this any other way in ver. 6 yet.
thanks,
Jack

1. Select all or some of the points
2. Select the point translation tool
3. Click anywhere in the edit window
Now you have the points key framed like frame 0 and the channel is visible.
This is a "hold frame" just like if you had right clicked and inserted a key in the channel if it had been visible. You do NOT have to go back and copy/paste keys from frame 0 because these keys are in the same position as frame 0.

Thank you Vern, that's exactly what I wanted to do.

I vote to bring back the time line setting. I'm a big boy, I can handle having empty time lines.

I was disappointed with this new feature, but now I absolutely love it. It's ten times smarter than the old one.
The only request I would do is that tools have a button to add keyframes (or maybe a shortcut which key the selected or all objects on the current tool channel). That would be perfect.

So far I really really really like this new time line functionality. However there are times when I would like to "turn off" the view of channels that are keyed and "done", meaning I don't plan to mess with them any more and would like more room for other channels. Not a big deal.
I was thinking for those that really miss the old time line settings... Instead of not showing unkeyed channels... have only the channels with keys STAY AT THE TOP of the channel list.
All the channels would be visible but if only those with keys stay at the top of the time line then you don't need to scroll up and down so much. If you need to key a channel without a key it's still visible. Maybe the unkeyed channels are "grayed out" in some way. This would still require scrolling to find that channel to insert a key.
Another cool option would be the ability to REARRANGE the channels themselves. you could even have "buttons" to "sort" them. Click "Sort by keys". Then all the keyed channels go to the top. Or sort by "Layer Keys" so all of the layer animation keys go to the top. Or only display layer "specific keys". For example this would turn off all channels for a bone layer except for bones.
This would be helpful when you are doing different types of animation for different things.

This is what was great about the settings button, you could show or hide any channels, whether they had keys or not. There have been lots of times when I've hidden channels that way to keep things easier and concentrate on one sort of thing in the timeline. I think it's a useful feature.
