Characters and Multiple Backgrounds

Hello! I just bought Anime Studio a few days ago, and I love it! I have a question regarding backgrounds.

I'm trying to make a shot where there's a shot of a character and background, then to another character/background, with a switch switching the backgrounds. (Hope that makes sense...)

However, either the background or the character is always blocking the other (it pops up in front), so I can't have both in the same place. Is there a way to make the background of the "character" layer invisible so the actual "background" layer shows up behind it, or any other way to fix this problem?

Thanks!

(A-ha! Never mind, I solved the problem.)

My guess is you put things inside group folders within the switch layer, so you switched to group folders which themselves could contain more than one item at a time.

I had actually just moved the character layer to the top, then moved it out of the way when the background layer switched. Not the easiest solution, but it worked.

How do you create a group folder? That sounds easier than my method.

I'd create a group folder, call it SCENE 1 and put the character and BACKGROUND 1 in that group. (That's the character and background that go together). Then I'd make a switch layer. Then I'd put the group folder SCENE 1 inside the switch layer, and put BACKGROUND 2 also in the switch layer. That way, the switch layer is either showing SCENE 1 with the background and character that got together, OR background 2 which is just the background without the character.
