"Puzzling" is my largest Anime Studio Pro project to date, in terms of the challenge and the duration. It show-cases many of the features that are available, including the 3D camera, extensive masking and particle layers.

Please watch it and post your comments here, I'd love to hear what you think. The link is below:

Watch it on YouTube, in HD and Surround Sound!

Technical Information:

Developed in Anime Studio Pro 5.6.
Picture and sound editing in Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 9.0.
Still images in Adobe Photoshop 8.0.
Developed on a Windows 7 o/s with a quad core processor.

Very nicely done, from start to end. Very accomplished looking.

The only thing is the pace. It drags an awful lot. Great piece of animation, but not so much entertainment. Maybe the pace was just too monotonous. Variety of pace and not holding a shot too long might help a lot.

Thank you for commenting.

Regarding your criticism, I was definitely trying to have a more measured pace. The music is inspired by M. Night, who is known for longer takes. I find quick cuts and frenetic editing can often be more laborious than long takes, because you miss all the finer details.

Quick cuts are for broader comedy; this cartoon was all about atmosphere, and building tension.

But I do appreciate your feedback. I'd be curious to know if other people share your opinion.

That was really good, made me giggle
but I agree with synth, just a few cuts would have made it better.
But either way, nice job.

Well done. Nice feeling of atmosphere and place. Was the music original? As it supported the piece beautifully.

Thank you. The music is from the movie "The Village". When I chose it, it really helped me shape that sequence.

Great animation. I enjoyed the overhead scenes. The backgrounds are simple but very apt. My only observation if I may is that the characters mouth it perhaps a little bit off, but apart from that a very good animation indeed. keep up the great work.

I really enjoyed that, it's a nice idea that was well executed.
I also liked the slower pacing personally, it seemed to fit the mood.
