I was having a shower and suddenly this idea struck me based on Selgins fantastic Snake tecnique.

Selgins idea could be used to effect a motion path in a particle in effect giving you control over the particle path.

I had a ball dragging around the bone chain to see what type of effects you can get.

Wow.
I just imagine this done with the kind of SFX we had with the excellent jellyfish from some weeks ago - the blueish glowing transparent kind. Combine this, and we can do educational medical clips ... like those snips in Dr House!

Yes.....exactly what I was thinking slow. I started experimenting with lines for a running river effect and then swapped the lines for blobs and this is how it turned out.

Wow. Very ingenious use of that technique DK. One of those effects which has a lot of impact for the amount of work needed.

Yes...so easy to do but so effective....I was going to do an Animated Avatar with this technique for the next competition but I got so excited, I wanted to share it on the forum straight away and just could'nt keep it a secret
Darn!

DK I totally love it.
I tried this technique with particles for the infinity factor last week, but failed dismally..
Still thanks for rekindling my inspiration. That is so cool.

There's no reason this can't be used for all *kinds* of things (with some transparency and soft edges it occurs to me this would be perfect for flowing water like in a river or fountain).
Thanks indeed for sharing -- these are the kinds of examples that really should be included with AS.

I haven't tried it yet but i assume it
is possible to run more than one
particle layer at a time to create
mulitple streams of water or smoke
or ants....

If you download the example you'll see just that -- it's how he gets various blood colors/effects/motions.

But can you actually use particles? I don't think so.
I so how?
