I made my walk cycle in the mainline window. Can I copy those frames to an action? I tried it couple of times but nothing...

This will insert the entire mainline animation into the action.

Note: in the actions window, your empty new action must have the red arrow beside it (be the active timeline), but the mainline must be the one highlighted, before you click the Insert Copy butoon.
