Thoses books have a story line completed with this volumes in paper, the story is continuing on more than several pages.
What I was willing to say is that augmented reality is use as an illustration, technical astonishing thing, but it is not yet used as an element of the story, on a book , for several pages.
That a big challenge, I think, technically and artistically.


Do you have information about a company, an artist, trying to do something like this??

I am trying to finds people interested by this.

My own thinks are why bother?

We have books -- astonishing things, written on paper and allowing your imagination to do things no computer can *ever* accomplish. And we have movies which allow others to realize their own visions. Why do we need to have a third process which isn't as good as either of those two?

It's kind of like the old saw about a pencil sharpener that also mixes your salad. Great, except that after a while your pencils smell like vinegar, and your salad tastes of graphite.

Not quite sure what the point of the post is. What are you trying to do?

Here is one example of a company that offers software to create one version of what I think are "Augmented reality" for printed books if that is your goal:

I am planning (if I have time) to produce some very simple books that I will print out myself on card stock and give to my young nephews for Christmas. I would like to have part of the book be an illustrated story and the other have cut out models they can assemble with scissors and glue.

Another topic to search on might be "lenticular" printing. Those "3D" covers you see on DVD's and CD's and also posters. They are getting more affordable now to produce... but.. still expensive for casual reproduction. There are also companies that offer "do it yourself" kits at home but it's kind of fussy and complicated.
