Hi; I'm currently working on a little animation and I try to know Anime Studio Better.

Here I have a man and his mower.

The mower is a "sub-bone" of the man.
I bond the mower group on the right arm bone of the arm;

and now I need to animate the mower.
I'm not happy with the current "boning" of the mower; it's not very easy to animate.
I try to make it in another way (main bone at the left) but it's not good either.

Have you got good advices for me ?

Thanks !

Here's a start of animation :

And the mower boning :

I like the hand drawn look, it'd great to see all the different looks people are getting. It might need s some flexible areas like the dude's ummmm rump.

If it were my project, I might put a Switch Layer in for the mower's engine and have just two sub-layer of the engine squashing then streching. The just switch between them, say, every six frames. Some adjustment may be needed to get the look you want.

Good luck.

I'd add an extra child bone off the man's arm (or hand) and layer bind the mowers top layer to it. Moving the man's arm will move the mower, and that extra layer bound bone can be used to keep the mower level with the ground.

Aside from animating the motor like FC says, I probably wouldn't even bone the mower.

Also, with the dynamics and all, the man's face looks rather phallic.

:wink:

The hand drawn style on this is very sharp, good stuff-
