Hi everyone. I have Anime Pro and love it. I have been doing some basic animation and syncing it to music.

I draw my objects in Photoshop Elements then save them as .png for Anime.

I use a WACOM "Bamboo" pad to draw on, which I really like.

Does anyone know of a"better" product for drawing with besides elements?

I'm looking for something that is not so complicated that it takes me a year to learn.

have you looked at Artweaver?

It is free and has decent drawing tools.

If you aren't married to a bitmap program using the drawing tools in AS is a far better way to go -- plus there are lots of things you can do using vector art you cannot do any other way.

True there are shadings that are not possible with vectors, but you'd be amazed at how many creative designs can work around these limitations.

I have to do a self portrait of me for my art class and I am adding a guitar in the picture. I'm trying to mix so many colors together to get the color of a guitar, but it’s not working. I was wondering if you know what colors I need to mix together. Where can I go for real help? Do you have much experience with color combination? Thanks a lot in advance.

you can draw your characters in gimp and later vectorize in AS, or you can draw and paint you backgrounds in gimp, and do your characters in AS.

There is Open Canvas
a Painter-like software, well artrage is much cheaper.

I recently boughtSerif's Photoplus X2 software. For me it is ideal. It's pretty much Photoshop 7 with a few added features. Blows elements out of the water feature wise for $70. It lacks in hotkeys, but I never use those much in photoshop anyway. You can download the manual to see if it's what you need. I found GIMP to not be all there yet, same with artweaver, and I do like artrage, but for a PS clone, Photoplus is the best I've tried.

Another software
You can look around for Corel Draw, there are different versions still available, older and used.
In Germany we can get an OEM Version of Corel 11 for about 25.- Euro.
(Sadly, this version 11 doesn't work for MAC)
There is inside the vector software Draw and the Photo Paint which has many similar things to Photoshop.
And you can also get Paint Shop Pro from Corel.
