Having studied quadruped walk cycles somewhat, I immediately spot that the dog walks odd. Aside from that the dogs appears to walks like a camel*, the hind and front legs are in sync, while they always should be out of sync.

With that I mean that while the hind legs are in the passing position, the front legs are in the contact position, and vice versa. This means the front and hind is half a step out of sync in the normal quadruped walk cycle.

*Note: walk like a camel: left hind leg moves in same general direction as the left front leg, instead of the right front leg.

I'm not saying you must change it, only that you should be aware of it, and decide you think it is important enough to change, because the animation suddenly becomes a lot more complicated than before. If the dog isn't important enough for this part of the story, I would leave it like it is.

Hi,

I am aware that the walk cycle is not perfect. Perfecting is on my todo list, whenever time permits I would like to spend some time on this, nevertheless I feel creating a perfect dog walk will be a difficult task, so it could be that my animation will end up with a "very special dog" :wink:

I like the look of your cartoon.

I have yet to release my first full-length animated music video since my co-worker and I have different schedules- but in my video I have these rats running- and I couldn't figure out how to animate them- so, I popped in the Secret of NIHM and watched a few scenes, paused them, and drew on paper what the different frames looked like so I could get a better feel for how they moved.

I would suggest watching some old Scooby Doo cartoons for really good animated dog walking.

I liked the soundtrack- did you do that?

No, I received this music through the "droomwevers" project (http://www.droomwevers.nl/), this project found my previous animations on YouTube and asked me to create animation for a song.

I tried to improve the walk cycle of the dog but things didn't improve very much. For the moment I think my video will have this very special dog walk cylce.... :wink: I am not unhappy with the overall result.

Just curious, what settings in AS did you use
to export to Mytoons?

Hi Toonertime,

I started my project using the project settings 1024/576 and 25 frm/s. When I saw the announcement of Mytoons HD I changed the settings in my project to 1280/720 (still with 25 frm/s). My project is rendered in AS Pro as a png image sequence and I use premiere to create a quicktime (the settings I use for the quicktime file are (almost) the settings that Mytoons shows on their HD help pages with one exception, I don't use 30 fps but 25 fps).
