[ EDIT: If you can't see the animation below, refresh your browser. It will then load. ]

Here's another sample from my iClone model.

Image

Some notes:

(1) The frames were duplicated in ping-pong fashion so the animation repeats a little better.

(2) I used bitmap filters to "toon" the video output from the 3D animation.

(3) The flicker is a side effect of the simplifying power of the "cutout" filter. It will have to be corrected. I feel that the best way to produce the animation would be to trace over extremes in this video in Anime Studio and re-animate.

(4) iClone's power to do convincing facial animation, while limited, is what hooked me on plunging ahead with this project.

(5) iClone's faulty body proportions, especially the near absence of a neck, has in part caused me to seek other solutions.

Comments welcome.

I don't knoiw much about iclone but can you import your own model into it? If so the neck proportions can be corrected easily in any 3D modelling application. I'd be happy to help you with resizing the neck.

Reallusion offers a utility program called 3DXchange for importing 3D models from other apps, including Poser.

Unfortunately, once imported, these are dead props.

They can't be animated with iClone's human animation features.

iclone forum quote:
iClone uses its own custom bone system for the G1 and G2 figures which means you can't simply import characters from programs such as Second Life and have them animate the same as default figures like the Jane and Jack characters. With 3DXchange you can bring in .OBJ or .3DS files as props, accessories etc but not as fully working characters.

To create completely new characters currently requires 3DS Max, the Max Plugin and the G1 or G2 templates. It is then possible to take any figure and fit the RL bone system although this is an advanced and time consuming process, albeit very rewarding.
I'd say it's only a matter of a short time before iClone will accept mesh formats other than Max.
