I'm sorry, what's the advantage of splitting the mouth? :?

The layers inside the mouth seems to be unaffected by any bone I add to the mouth switch layer. I've tried "Flexibind points" after made a "Release points" once I have selected all the points of the A mouth and it continues immune to any bone I put inside.

DK, have you done something special I cannot see now ?
I got it. For some reason the A, B, E etc. layers were layer binded although the switch layer don't have any bone (did you have previously the layers binded to any bone and the erased the bone?). I have selected the bind layer tool and click to none bone and the layer was released then to be flexibinded by the added bones....

That's cool! We can move the shapes with the classical bone chains and the layer scales pretty well with the bonded bone of the parent. It works like if you scale the layer but only in one direction (the given by the parent bone...)

You can scale only a half with a bone. The scaled bone is in the parent bone layer so it affects to the entire switch layer. If you don't divide into two halves then you scale the left and right sides of the mouth at the same time what is not a good thing.

Of course! Each side of the mouth is then treated just like the eyes.

Brilliant.

I want to join in with all the others and just say how impressed I am with with DK, Heyvern and Genete. What wonderful work these guys are doing for all the rest of us here.
I was totally blown away by the simplicity of DK:s 2.5 rig and would humbly like to help out too, if I can.

How about this?

The nose tip moves at another speed than the rest of the face, so it has to have scale bones of its own, right? That's what I have tried here...

That is one irritating hosting site! Can't you put these files somewhere else?

Yes, I agree.

However, if you simply right-click the links above and save them that way, you don't have to deal with that impossible web host.

Oh, sorry about that... just put them on the first available place I had... (I use that place for php testing)

I'll see if I can find a less irritating host...

i'm at office now (and i'm really hating to work...), but i have read all your messages and saw all your swf (except the last one, which doesn't work) and all your .anme files (when my boss is not looking here). i'm really excited, this is so so important, and the way how this topic have grown demonstrates it.
i'm, how to tell you this... i'm proud of this forum.
you are so close to obtain the perfect multi use turning head technique. i really want to come home soon and play with the files to look what could i provide.
thank you all which are contributing their sand granite (or big stone) to this cause.

Hey Cap!
It looks great!. Great idea about the deformation of the nose.

If we can translate a little more far away it would be pretty nice nose!

Nice to see how this thread grows...

Hi Genete.

I think this is a bug. I tried adding bones into the switch layer but nothing happens either???
Re: two halves of the mouth. IT IS SO EASY TO DO!!!!
You simply animate one half as you would a whole mouth. hen you're finished you simply copy and mirror the other half :)
Don't worry about my anme file Genete. I am only using my old bone rig for experimentation for each element. The final model will include ears etc. It's just easier to work on individual elements for me when I' using a clean file.

Maybe a bug but I have "unbinded" the vector layers and now are affected by bones inside the switch layer.

--------

() I have so few free time lately. I need to get some sleep... I get really tired. I have a lot of ideas about this scaled bones turn (I imagine like all of you )For example apply the springy bones to perform the rotation (translation) of the scaled bones... but now I need time to attend other obligations. Last week I only slept 4 hours a day....

...

Please fell free to ask any kind of questions and continue developing this rig. I'll answer as many as my brain can do and my free time lets me.

...

I really need to have a rest. I'm really exhausted. Don't think I'm off on this matter. Just need some time to recharge my batteries.

See you.

“Perhaps this is the major role of sleep,” Walker boldly suggests.
