well that hits the "cute" factor! :D

but I think you could do more than just a "Peter Rabbit" or "Watership Down" animation on this...

such as this, shamelessly ripped off from van Gogh's "peasants"??

Very nice Hayasidist! Makes me want to see more story and more characters.

Artwork credits for the character go to Vincent - all I did was pick a good style match (your grass very much reminded me of his "Wheat Fields" series) and photoshop the chap into your scene. Story?!? I s'pose I'd better start writing one then!?

But seriously said, to answer your original question, IMO as long as the technical and aesthetic considerations are properly addressed (and all the contributors to this thread have set the direction for the 'what' and the 'how' on these points): absolutely a resounding "YES!" - this style will work with animation (and, just in case you don't know the film, take a look at "The Wind Rises" which, again IMO, should remove any lingering doubt).

DK, I agree with hayasidist. The background would work because you have the talent to make it work.

Thanks for the feedback Hayasidist and 3Deeguy,
I really only started playing with Painter and none of this was planned. It all developed with the input from this thread.
Definitely will keep playing with the styles and keep posting just to see where it ends up.

Cheers
