Thanks for all the feedback. And I was already thinking about the option of importing the animated characters from Anime Studio Pro into C4D as well. But I can't seem to get the lighting right in the way I want it to look.

And the street-view is pretty much the way I want it to look. And it looks like the real street-view as well:

Here is one of the main characters in his new character style and in the final look from the 3D environment:

I still have to rig him and decide on how many sides of him I will draw. I have only this view version now.

What do you use to get that effect? Like the color correction and such? Also do you make your textures or do you download them?

I make all my textures myself and I also ad some color correction with after effects. Is that what you are referring to?

Here is an example of how it looks before I do my coloring and contrast:

Thinking back on the movie "Titan A.E." where they combine 2D character with 3D background, but not always.

Here is my thought. 3D object in Anime studio don't always render well and takes too much time. I think that is why you don't see very many poser imported animations. There is a lag in setting up animation with poser, which may change that, because of the reduce polygon feature of New Poser Game dev version. I like what he did here in being able to match style between 3D object and 2D animation. The only issue of shadow was that I would have a conflict of using anime studio shading and 3D render shadow that looks as if you had two set of laws of physics on lights. That being said I like to render the 3D object in toon mode and then add the elements of Anime studio but render them out as PNG sequence and then add it back in under a 3D program, not for shadow but better control of the 3D effect in stereo. I think you could go either way, but layers is important to make the changes and reducing render time for small changes.

I think it's interesting with both approach. My general rules is anything Hard in 3D, and anything Organic, soft in 2D, and anything not moving in the background or sitting in place drawn once.

Recent development is that both smith micro product of anime studio and poser now support FBX for Unity. Be interesting to see if anyone can compose a story in Unity with both?

Actually I was working on a pipeline the other way around for the last couple of days. And it might look like I have found a good way to import animations (PNG Image sequence or Quicktime with alpha) on e plane shape into Cinema 4D. I'll post some testing results as soon as I have found some time to render out a short animation test, to share here in this topic.

I use Vue with sequence png's
The fbx export sucks. It exports all the layers as shapes, not in a flat. but each layer is sightly farther away from the last. Making it no good with a 3D camera in Unity. The best method to work with unity is sprite sheets. But you have to get a Sprite Sheet converter that doesn't down size your sequence images.

Smith micro should have made an exporter from AS to poser. I have tried but never could get it to work.
