All right, so what I hope is one last question before I beat this thread to death: As far as fills, do you mean that there are too many layers in the mouth switch? I'm sort of new to this program so I'm not quite sure what you mean.
And indeed, yes. I much appreciate the help! Thank you!

No, not the layers. I only really checked out the "rest" layer. If you keep selecting the shape with the select shape tool and deleting, you'll find that there are five or more shapes on that mouth curve. Well you select and it shows the checkerboard pattern you'll be down to the last one or two shapes.
The reason this stack of shapes causes the mouth to appear to open as you zoom out is because there is a slight anti-alias bug. Each shape sharing the same edge and being adjacent in the shape stack order pushes out slightly around the one above it. More shapes just make this a cumulative effect, each one poking out just a hair more around the one above it.
It may be easier to delete all of the shapes and just make sure you only create one shape (or as few as possible).

Oh my God. I wish you could have seen my face when I went back and checked my file. That is it completely and totally and exactly! Wow. Thank you, that is incredible. I feel stupid and enlightened at the same time! Thank you for your help!

I spent a lot of time once tracking down the exact reason for that bug. Apparently it can't be fixed (so I'm told).
