Imported audio playback levels

Hi Guys

Any advice greatly appreciated. I have a set of cans so as not to distract my colleague. The Mac preference is set for output to the cans. I've imported audio as a .wav file but scrubbing thru the timeline the audio plays out of the mac and not the cans, even when I turn down the macs audio levels. I risk being chucked out the office.
