Speed of imported video

Post by slowtiger »

I just ran into an odd behaviour of AS. I had prepared some video with 12.5 fps and imported it in an AS file which was set to 25 fps. After rendering I found the imported video run at 25 fps as well, double speed. It seems that AS doesn't recognize the fps information of imported .movs.

I can only recommend to prepare imported video so it has the exact framerate as the project, otherwise you might run into sync problems.

Also I had trouble to import another video file into the same AS project. It always gave me the "broken image" icon. I had the same scene rendered several times from TVPaint and made sure to give it a new filename each time. AS imported the first of them without trouble, but then failed to "see" the other ones. Only restarting AS let it work again. The video files were all OK, so I guess AS had trouble with too recent creation dates or whatever.

AS doesn't do "frame blending". It reads imported video as an "image sequence" so there is no way to squeeze or stretch the video. It would have to drop frames or double frames up.

That's what I've figured out. It should be mentioned in the manual, though.
