Some examples of my beginner work

Post by calogiga »

This is my first satisfying animation.

I tried to redraw an alien creature from Scavengers Reign, then I rigged it, and then I tried badly to animate.

I know that there are yet so much to learn and improve, but I'm feeling good that Moho is gentle to be mastered with a lot of practice... :D

The ease of duplicating things is great in Moho. I feel the great potential of this program.

These look great considering you've only just started out.

Possibly you could experiment with some extra key frames to give the characters more of a feeling of weight? So the legs would move up but then slam down a lot faster - with a bit of bend on impact to give the illusion of the creature's body being heavy on the thin legs.

There is a great book by Richard Williams called The Animator's Survival Kit that talks about this sort of thing. He was a traditional animator but there are many important lessons in the book for digital animators as the same pricinpals with the ways characters move still hold true.

Thanks Frank for the encouragement. I need to read and practice a lot, again. :D :D

Here is my next beginner work. I want to recreate the little red robot character (NONO) from Ulysses 31.

I'm busy to understand head rotation, and I work for the moment with a sketch.

And as you can see in the video, I'm managing the robot's ear with a simple rectangle (with 6 points) and a circle.
Moho is really cool. All is well structured to help you to draw the head.

The big difficulty : you need to work with your brain to decide how you will structure the head for the turning.

Later, I will do the same but with the actual shape of the character :
