layer Z depth issue when constructing character

Post by ruscular3d »

I am not sure what I am doing to cause this, but when I construct a character, a few layers been moved on the Z plane and I don't know how it got there, and wonder if there is a way to lock layers onto the "0" setting on the Z plane. .77 seems to be the repeating depth of my layers from time to time.

Maybe you accidentally hit the 'alt' key when you were transforming the layer?
I've not had this problem before, but if everything is z:0 then it should be easy to spot.

Is there a way to lock out z depth to stay at "0"

Not that I know of. The z only changes when you use the transform layer tool with the 'alt' key, or have the camera angled in 3D ('pan/tilt camera' changed from default or 'orbit' view enabled). When I'm working in 3D, I only manipulate the layer's positions with the numbers in the toolbar.
