Hello everyone
Anyone has any idea on how to print the PDF manuals with black only text, and not the smudgy grey text it was compiled with?
I tried to edit the text with Acrobat pro, but it involves editing all the paragraph separately!
Thanks for any help.

Re: How to print the pdf manuals with black text
The only thing I could come up with on my Mac, was to change my print settings and set the brightness/contrast to make the text black. I couldn't find any other settings for this. Unfortunately these settings are probably printer dependent and also effect the images as well as text.
The "gray" text is dark enough to read when printing black and white at normal print quality, but I suppose if you print using economy mode it probably would be much lighter. Check your print settings there may be some options in there to darken the text. Some printers have better drivers with more options.
With stuff like this, I don't like to spend all that money on print cartridges printing at home. it's actually much cheaper to take it to a place like Office Depot, Staples or UPS and print it out in black and white for pennies a page or whatever it might be. I figure new cartridges for my printer are like $25-$35 a pop. I can buy just black for a bit less but it still is less expensive to use a beat up old laser printer at one of those "DIY" print places.

Can you use colour profiles?
You can convert colours in a PDF by using Tools > Print Production > Convert Colors. (see the color conversion topics in Acrobat Help.)
and/or (windows - not sure about mac) have you tried a different color profile for the printer to "fool" the system into thinking that the printer is "lith"? (i.e. anything above "some threshold" is black and anything else is white?) (clearly this will screw up images ...)

Thank You both for your replies.
Vern, I use refillable cartridges and I buy ink by the liter, cost close to nothing to print anything and they work perfect on my Epson 1430.
I looked at the printer settings and there is a setting for bri/cont, but it changes the images too much, and I have not played with profiles, may have a look at that, thanks a bunch You two!
