Made character, can't add bones. Character gone at frame "0"

Post by Dornier »

I created a fairly complex character in frame 1.

Following the bone tutorial, I separated the element layers (head, arms, legs, etc) and added a bone layer with the aforementioned under it.

When going to frame "0" to get the add bone button, my character is gone. Actually, the vertices are there for each layer, but there is no color. I can't add a bone on frame one as the button is not available.

It's been a long time since I've used AS and I am rusty.

Should I have created the character from within frame zero?
Is there a way to move the entire thing to frame zero if this is the case?

Is there a way to salvage this without starting the character over?

Thanks in advance.

I think this will work... but - just in case - SAVE your file first!!!!

you need to copy everything from frame 1 to frame 0: set frame 1 in the timeline; then Animation / copy current frame / whole doc to frame 0; then delete all the keyframes on frame 1.

yes, you should have used frame 0, but all is not lost. Just selecte all keys at frame 1, and paste them at frame 0 - then you can hit delete and frame 1 will be emptied.
When you draw off frame 0, it is still added but made transparent as AS assumes you didn't want to see it before that point.

Thanks hayasidist,

That worked perfectly.

Funksmaname, I tried the normal cut n past and was having difficulty with it. Gonna lay up and play safe from here out.

Thanks for both replies.
