ASP 7 - Broken Image Files (After Import)

Post by Experiment-3358679 »

Glad I found the forum, hoping someone can help me.

My characters are created using PNG files in Photoshop. I then import them into ASP 7 to bone and animate etc. So far I haven't had a problem, but now when importing my newest character, only a hand-full of files work, the rest of the images are displayed as broken (the broken image icon). Have tried saving the files as .psd and as GIFs, but this hasn't helped. I also tried reducing the size of the images to 1/4 of what they were - also hasn't helped.

Another curiosity, the broken files change each time I try (re)importing. My character has 18 individual layers - is this too many?

Characters that I have made before and after this one are importing without a problem.

Thanks for any advice!

Did you move the images to another folder? If yes, double click on the broken image layer and then go to image tab, click Source image and import it again.

Thanks for your suggestion and quick reply!

The files are in the same folder they were created in (ie, they haven't been moved). I followed your suggestion anyway, but it didn't work. Any other suggestions? Am getting desperate, need to finish this animation for an assessment next week! Cheers

Sorry to sound pushy but does anyone have any ideas on what might be causing the problem and a solution? I have tryed copying the files across into another folder - thast didn't work. I have tryed another computer and that didn't work either.

Has anyone else had this problem?

If I down load ASP 8 will it get rid of the problem?

Cheers

Take a look at this:

Selgin's folder structure. I don't think this has anything to do with software versions -- it's more likely to be a corrupted file. Try to rescue what you can of your work and introduce your picture files into this structure one at a time if you want to find the rogue file. If you have the money to upgrade, AS version 8 CAN import native Photoshop .psd files -- might be easier for you in the long run to sort your layers out in photoshop and then just import everything as a psd file. Good luck, anyway.
You can't have everything. Where would you put it?

That file structure is pretty similar to what I have already, I just lifted my .anme files from their folder and put them into the main folder. It seems that ASP7 will only accept four of the images (there are 18 in total). It doesn't matter what order I import the pictures, the fifth one always breaks. So I could have an arm and a foot, or the head, body and feet - any combination of four images. It just doesn't seem to take anymore after that.

Have you tried to open AS then open the file that contains the images then select all 18 images and drag them into AS's work space?

Yup, I've tried doing a batch import (dragging them from the folder), I've tried dragging them across individually and in small groups and importing via File - Import - Images.

Don't remember if I mentioned this before, I've tried the same processes and the same import methods using GIFs and PSDs.

Delete the images from the AS project and start over. There is now reason for this to be happening unless there is some kinda of glitch or the images are corrupt. I have had broken images a lot but I always fixed them by just reestablishing the link.

The same thing happens when I import into a new document (both on my animating computer and another computer).

Can you upload the images to a file sharing site?
