OK thanks for help to date here's the result of following Vern's advice on duplicating the floor and using visibility http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ULHgmjgEXdM 2 reflections: i) the insight that counted for me was that physics is done on frame0 shapes - everything else flows from that observation i...

thanks Verne that helped a lot now another question, if I may... after I got the prop out of the way I modified the "floor" only to find the ball object I have released does not interact with the newly modified floor (see video link below) The floor is checked as a non-moving object within...

now for a further thing... I want to have physics group active and then at some point remove a prop which is holding something up and by this action let that thing fall. (eg a bucket of bricks) Since the prop has to be part of the initial physics in order to hold the object up against gravity, I am ...

think I've got it... tried the above and then added a simple head-butting character on a totally separate layer, timed to strike a mighty blow just as the physics begins its sequence http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sr5hv5oLODk or (a little bit more on the screen!) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TvmSt...

OK Thanks That made sense. Steps seem to be... 1. set up the physics group and its layers 2. run the animation once 3. go into properties for physics group and in physics tab check "use baked physics" 4. in sequencer, move the physics group to the point you want it to begin this has worked...

turning physics on and off

I'm sure I must be missing something...

Is it possible to turn physics on and off during an animation?

Thanks for the link. They're excellent - and way beyond me at this stage to do anything much like that! But good to see.

Future Directions for ASP - philosophy and features

This thread is a suggested follow on from GCharb's posting indicating his withdrawal given concerns about the direction of AS development. I'm wondering what others feel are KEY philosophical and/or feature development directions they'd like to see (or to avoid). PHILOSOPHY: My 2 cents on the philos...

I'm very new here, and so might be speaking out of turn, but I'm wondering if a small but possibly useful step might be to open a thread or two with the key ideas (either philosophy or feature) people would like to see develop in future. In fact, I'll do that right now and see what takers we might g...

I sort of wish you hadn't asked the question - I was already irritated that they were offering new customers the full version at the same price as upgrade. Now I have another grumble!

Oh well, such things are character building - very important in animation software.

As far as the upgrade price goes, is that the standard upgrade price or a limited time offer? I ask because of this email I received below. http://my.smithmicro.com/email_web/anime/as7/upgradeboth/?utm_source=MailingList&utm_medium=email&utm_content=uddhava2%40yahoo.com&utm_campaign=AS7...

On the subject of scripting, is there a Lua command reference somewhere on the furum, or anywhere else? I am beginning to get a grasp of Lua, real easy scripting language, but I cannot find much to work with as far as ASP is concerned. Maybe try http://www.lua.org/manual/5.1/manual.html , but I too...
