Re: First full animation project in AS...
With such a small team and in just two weeks this is an excellent result (I think the pacing could have been faster in places though). I like the characters a lot, they're really a nice mix of distinct figures. Good SFX and I like the voices too. Great work!

Re: Newmans: Crime Fighting Time!
Nice video! Made me laugh. I like how it starts off with the last bit of a report about a surgery mishap and how dad drives a Volvo which basically disqualifies him from super hero business

Re: smoothly front walking
The upper body is a bit stiff. If you look at his shirt, it doesn't change form at all. The side of the high shoulder should be straight, the side of the low shoulder should be bent. http://www.paulmesken.net/Muybridge.jpg In a walk, the upper body and head rocks from side to side to keep the weight...

Hi RunFunky, I would definitely make the colors of his suit lighter. You want crisp, strong shadows and you won't get that when the color is dark to begin with. I'd also would use 3 small buckles instead of four. You can make them bigger and they're more convenient to draw (just 1 through the middle...

Re: Animation referencing
I use lots of references- and i use the little wooden doll thing that poses for well..poses... is it bad to reference so much rather than just...drawing it straight out of my head? Well, you won't be able to draw straight out of your head if you haven't made tons of drawings from reference. By the ...

question...you can use more than two layers right? (not quite clear on the 300 frames limit, 2 layers bit) it does seem like a good program to start with The version I use (Flipbook Lite) only has 2 layers and has the limit of 300 frames. For what I use it for, that's enough. But if you really want...

Re: A Good Starter Program for Animation
Well, something that stays very close to traditional animation is Digicel's Flipbook . It has an exposure sheet, which is very handy, but it is extremely basic as far as drawing tools go. I only use the cheapest version (300 frames limit, 2 layers) for things like rotoscoping and pencil tests (worki...

Yeah, I agree with you, including the need for a visual shorthand. But when I saw it I did remember a stronger statement for diversity (there's an Italian in it too)neeters_guy wrote:The Asian kid is a bit stereotyped for my taste, but I understand the need for visual shorthand in a piece such as this.

Re: Lot of colours, one flag!
It looks great. Nice characters, good music, fluent movements. It's a bit mushy for my taste though, I'm waiting for their heads to explode when they touch hands because of all the magic but that's just me  Perhaps you should slip in the Colloseum in the background (it's about Italy, after all...

Don't know if I'm right but there could be something wrong... Cover the elbows with a pencil and it looks alright, the elbow section (actually, the upper arm) needs to be adjusted for the way the hands are turned. As for the character, I think it's some kind of samurai (or even ronin). I think a st...

Re: More character portraits
I've taken a break from learning backgrounds and have been practicing my character creation. I see what people mean by improving the drawing tools in AS. Blending shapes, BRIGHT soft spots, textured fills, and depth are hard to achieve. What do you think so far? Anyone have advice for a struggling ...

This is very good. Indeed he needs more attention.
