I want to import my characters, but I don't have photoshop. Can I still import an image with a tranperent background? Might paint.net work?

Rendering bug?
I CAN NOT render my images/animations... If I click File the render option is simply not there. If I hit Ctrl+r nothing happens. This makes it hard to work with a gradient.
